GRAN CANARIA SWIM WEEK 2026 KICKS OFF ITS COUNTDOWN WITH GREATER INTERNATIONAL REACH AND A NEW SCHEDULE

2026-06-03

Europe’s only swimwear fashion show will take place from 24 to 27 June on the island

Madrid, 3 June 2026 – The countdown to Gran Canaria Swim Week 2026 is now underway following an exclusive event in Madrid that kicked off the next edition of Europe’s leading international swimwear event. This new edition of GCSW focuses on beauty and wellbeing, linking swimwear with self-care, confidence and healthy habits.

The Hotel Nômade Temple, one of the capital’s latest openings, hosted the event where trade press, content creators, institutions and industry friends gathered to get a first-hand look at the new features the next edition of the fashion show will bring, which will be held for the first time from 24 to 27 June 2026 in Gran Canaria. This change of dates aims to align with the swimwear season and the sector’s interests, adapting to wholesale purchasing cycles and strengthening its international positioning.

Minerva Alonso, Minister for Economic Development, Industry, Trade and Crafts at the Gran Canaria Island Council, highlighted the uniqueness of Gran Canaria Swim Week as an international platform to showcase the island’s specialisation in swimwear. The councillor emphasised that the presence of Canarian brands allows us to show the world “part of our culture, our way of life and our landscape”, reinforcing the distinct identity of a sector that sets Gran Canaria apart within the fashion industry.

Alonso also highlighted the institutional support for the event, which has received public funding of over three million euros, and its impact on the island’s economy. In this regard, he emphasised the work carried out by Gran Canaria Moda Cálida to promote the development, professionalisation and internationalisation of local brands and to strengthen the sector’s competitiveness.

Before the presentation began, the professional guests were treated to an exclusive tour of the Gön House of Healing spa at the Hotel Nômade Temple. There, fashion and lifestyle journalist Paula Viana, dressed by Canarian designer Carlos San Juan, welcomed the attendees and introduced the wellness theme that will define this new edition. Through an immersive performance, various models wearing creations by the Canarian brands Maldito Sweet, Chacho SVNRS, Palmas, Volcano Blood and Nuria González interacted with the different spaces within the complex, conveying the feelings of well-being, calm and connection that inspire the 2026 edition. This enriching experience served as a prelude to discovering the essence and values that will define the upcoming edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week 2026.
